
The Canary Islands participate for the first time at UNVEX through the Fuerteventura Technology Park, a programme the island’s council promoted to boost the technology industry in the archipelago.
Top representatives of the government of the Canary Islands, led by the Regional Minister for Territorial Policy, Water and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, and the CEO of Fuerteventura Technology Park who coordinates Canarias Geo Innovation Program 2030, a program that pursues the diversification of the regional economy with innovative projects such as Canarias Stratoport for HAPS & UAS.
The project, headed by Telespazio and Pegasus, aims to develop a business innovation centre for unmanned air systems. The Technology Park will attract new projects and technology companies to help regional SMEs and to retain talent.
The Canary Islands offer a unique location for the testing of HAPS and UAVs in Europe and Africa, due to its location and climatic conditions, as well as the appropriate infrastructures for these unmanned systems.
With an accumulated investment of more than 100 million euros, Canarias Geo Innovation Program 2030, is one of the largest Spanish initiatives to promote unmanned aerial platforms.
